In our class this year, your students will participate in a 30-Book Reading Challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to get your students more interested in reading. Students can take a Reading Counts test on books that they read AND books that a teacher or family member reads to them. This challenge is not a part of any grade, but put in place for them strive towards a goal.

When can my student take a Reading Counts test? Students can take Reading Counts tests in the library, in the computer lab during our assigned time, or throughout the day in the classroom on the chrome books.

At the beginning of the year, and then every month remaining, each student will take a Reading Lexile test on the computer. When selecting a book, students must be within 100 points of their Lexile level (above or below).  The Benchmark Lexile Level for 3rd grade is between 620-790.
