A Little About Our ClassroomTop of Page

Welcome to 3rd grade!
We are going to have a MARVELous year!!

In our classroom, expectations are very high and respect for one another is extremely important.  Students will be making their own goals and we will be celebrating growth throughout the school year.  We will be focusing on having a GROWTH MINDSET this year instead of a fixed mindset.  A growth mindset is an understanding that you can get better at anything, and just because you don't understand something right away, you will be able improve with if you keep trying!

Homework:
You may be asking, "How can I help my child with their homework?" This is a great question! I will be offering suggestions as we go through the year. But, to start, always ask your child to see the different pieces and parts of their homework instead of just ask them, "Did you complete all your homework?" Next, if your child is having difficulty concentrating on homework, set a timer in front of them and set a time limit together on the assignment they are working on. Another helpful technique that works for students who have difficulty concentrating is to have them listen to soft music with ear phones. The music helps your child be able to drown out the other distractions that are occurring and focus on his/her task at hand. Again, don't hesitate to ask if you ever have any questions! Communication between school and home is essential, and I am here to help!
