Welcome to the Lake Forest School website. We hope that you find this website helpful and that it becomes another effective tool that connects you to the many things going on at our site.
It fills me with a great sense of pride to have been named principal of such a high achieving school that offers so many opportunities for our students. Since 1990, our school has worked closely with the community to provide a quality educational experience that goes beyond academic success and strives to enrich the lives of our families in many different ways. Having been a part of the school since 1999 as a third grade teacher, I can say without hesitation that the combined efforts of our fine staff, excellent students and supportive parents have made Lake Forest School one of the top elementary sites in El Dorado county and the surrounding region.

Through the years, many changes have taken place but the level of success we have enjoyed has remained constant. Lake Forest began as a 160 student starter school and grew to as large as 815 students on a multi-track year round schedule for grades K-6th. The Rescue Union School District moved back to a traditional calendar in 2003 for all schools and relocated 6th grade students in our middle schools. Currently, Lake Forest enrollment is at about 420 students making up 16 classrooms in grades Transitional Kindergarten though 5th.

Despite the ongoing changes we have experienced over the past 24 years, the achievement of our students has always been high. Our learning community has always centered on providing a superior education for students. We have been chosen by the State Department of Education as recipients of the California Distinguished Schools Award in 2004 and 2014. Although we are proud of this recognition, and our recent Academic Performance Index score (937 in 2012), we are always looking for ways to improve on programs, facilities and partnerships with the community to create an even more effective learning environment that all of our students deserve.

With help from our outstanding Parent Teacher Council, generous families and local business partnerships, Lake Forest has made many additional opportunities available for students. Lakers enjoy extra-curricular opportunities in art and dance instruction, technology, gardening, environmental education and sports. These complement curricular activities that enhance learning such as Gifted and Talented Education and Intervention instruction.

Lake Forest is a fantastic place for students to grow and we are constantly looking for ways to more fully prepare them for the future. We look forward to working with you to continue to create a school culture that respects and develops the potential within all children.
