Happy September Laker Families!
We are off and running to a successful school year! This past month, we had a focus on RESPECT. Our classes discussed what respect means, what it looks like and sounds like, both at Lake Forest, but at home as well. On Friday, we had the privilege of celebrating several students who have shown outstanding characteristics of respect. Congratulations to those students who received an award…We are so proud of you!

This coming month, our focus is on RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility means being accountable for one’s actions, as well as not only being able to know, but also apply the rules. Responsible citizens treat others fairly, are trustworthy, and honor their commitments. We will be looking for outstanding responsible Lakers around campus each and every day!

Our teachers have been working on the beginning of the year assessments so that we can meet each student’s needs. This month, we are beginning our Literacy Intervention Program (LIP), as well as our Math Intervention Program. These reading and math specialists provide small group instruction to students to work on specific skills.

We have a busy month ahead of us! PTC’s Enrichment Classes are open for enrollment. There are all sorts of classes, and we are excited to offer such fabulous enrichment opportunities to our students. All enrichment classes start the week of September 11th.

Our Student Council is hosting (and PTC is funding) our Grandparents and Special Friends Ice Cream Social this coming Friday, September 8th at 3:15. We will be serving ice cream sundaes to our families. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our grandparents and special friends. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cross Country has begun! Mr. and Mrs. Brinzer are coaching this year. We have about 80 students in grades 3-5 who are excited to participate this year!

Here are some important pieces of information. Because this is our monthly newsletter, it is longer than our normal Weekly News Blasts. Thank you for reading all the way through. 🙂
