Lake Forest Elementary School - Home of the Lakers

Book Fair

All for Books Program

  •    In conjunction with the Fall Book Fair Lake Forest participated in Scholastic’s All for Books program. This program promotes reading and benefits children in several ways.

    • This year due to the devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, our classes generously donated 25%, ($600 in Scholastic Dollars), of the funds collected during our fall Coin Drive to La Marque Elementary School in La Marque Texas.  This school has 600 students in grades 2-4 and sustained heavy damage from the hurricane.
    • The remaining 75%, $1600, went directly toward the purchase of exciting new books for our classrooms.
    • The Scholastic Possible Fund matches every donation, up to $1 million in books, received through the program and distributes them to children in need through organizations such as Kids In Need Foundation, Reader to Reader, Inc., and the National Center for Families Learning.
    •  All sales for classroom books are added to our fair total resulting in additional funding for our school library.
  • It's a Wrap!

Our 2017 Fall Book Fair was a great success thanks to the many volunteers who helped with pre-fair planning, set up, sales and tear down. I would especially like to give a great BIG thank you to our Chairperson, Denise Thomas, for all her hard work counting coins for the coin drive, organizing, planning and running the fair every single day! Our Book Fairs cannot happen without all the hard work and dedication of ALL our volunteers. A special thank you to Mr. Gonzales for the fun covered wagon Lollipop Pull game, Lili Xue for the fun countdown sign, Tami Madera for organizing the teacher table decorations, Jennifer Slade for the creative guessing jar game and Valerie Rondone for organizing the Wild West photo booth. And to the many volunteers who helped with set-up, worked sales, customer service, and tear down ... THANK YOU!

And last but not least, a BIG THANK YOU to the Lake Forest families who came and purchased books in support of our Library! All proceeds and products will go toward support of our classrooms and library, keeping our collection current and relevant.
